Rigo Ruiz: The salsero from Cartagena de Indias who makes Europe vibrate
Rigo Ruiz is a singer, composer, and bandleader originally from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
Deeply inspired during his youth by Afro-Caribbean rhythms of his hometown and by salsa icon Joe Arroyo, he began his career with the group Cariaco, eventually performing for over 20,000 people at the legendary Poliedro de Caracas.
Based in France since the early 2000s following a European tour, Rigo Ruiz has become a leading figure in the European salsa scene.
Leading his orchestra, Rigo Ruiz blends salsa with Afro-Colombian rhythms and an electrifying stage presence.
With over 1,000 concerts to his name, he has heaten up the stage in major festivals such as Tempo Latino, Les Francofolies de La Rochelle, and Toros y Salsa, while building a powerful discography that reflects his cultural legacy.
More than just a performer, Rigo is also a cultural ambassador. He collaborates with CICAFRO—the International Congress of Afro-Descendant Cultures— promoting the richness of Afro-descendant cultures worldwide.
His latest release, LA SALSA LLEGÓ, was recorded in Cali, Colombia, with some of Colombia's most prominent salsa musicians.
